ALIEN MUSTANGS - SUNRAYS
Harnessing the equine-like spirit of certain otherworldly entities,
Alien Mustangs forge a fresh path through the psychedelic wilderness,
sometimes glancing at maps sketched by The 13th Floor Elevators, Loop,
Stooges and Spacemen 3, but more often exploring enticing new
frontiers. Emanating sonically (and physically) from Thessaloniki,
Greece, the band has been crafting its unique blend of 0s-flavored,
hypnotic, space-psych trippiness since 2013, releasing their debut LP
"Alienation" in 2018. Propelled by psychic waveforms like a lightsail
powered by solar radiation, "Sunrays" transports listeners beyond
Earth's orbit, into the rarefied company of the guitar gods of
Ganymede-along with the first three spacemen to smoke cannabis on the
moon. Prepare for blastoff at 2:40.
"Forest" is the soundtrack of a trip through verdant wilderness, shafts
of sunlight breaking through the canopy above, dragonflies and
hummingbirds zipping overhead as dryads leave gifts of sacred mushrooms
alongside the path ahead.

Based in Orlando,
Florida, The Belltowers were formed in 2004 by Paul Mutchler (formerly
of garage-psych legends The Lears) on vocals and guitars; Eddie Foeller
on guitars and harmonica; Marshall Huggins on vocals, bass and organ;
and the band's most recent addition, Bill Langbein, on drums.
Influenced by folk-rock, psychedelia and power pop, the band shares a
common love of The Byrds, The Who, The Beatles, The Kinks, Gene Clark,
Love, Big Star, Teenage Fanclub, and The Rain Parade. They employ
vintage instruments (Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Epiphone, Fender, and
Guild) to play their jangly, harmony-laden songs.

With influences
ranging from Hendrix to Cream and The Byrds to The Wipers, The Bevis
Frond has been making some of the most astoundingly incendiary
psychedelic songs of our time. The legendary initial albums were
recorded by the band's guiding force, Nick Saloman, in a bedroom studio
in London during the last years of the 1980s, and with the
pandemic-induced lockdown in full force during the first years of the
2020s, Nick returned to playing all the instruments for his newest
release on Hypnotic Bridge. Using his typical set-up,
multi-instrumentalist Nick Saloman employed a 1960s Vox Continental
keyboard, 1970s Burns Flyte guitar, 1990s Epiphone bass (which somewhat
resembles a Hofner Violin), and a house kit for the drums. All sounds
emanated from a 1970s Carlsboro Stingray amp.

BLACK SNAKE MOAN - FIRE
Born under the sign
of reverb, Black Snake Moan is a sound research project with deep roots
in the atmospheres of blues and psychedelic rock. Atypical to most
one-man bands, Italian artist Marco Contestabile is inspired by a broad
spectrum of artists, which culminates in a sound threaded with
spiritual evocation. Much of his inspiration comes from his homeland,
the realm of the ancient Etruscans, a region permeated with mystery,
where the cult of death and belief in the afterlife and supernatural
events were part of everyday life, reflecting the spirituality of
ancient cultures throughout the world. While encompassing a new vision
of the legendary sound of the 1960s, both songs also reflect the
innovative songcraft of the pioneers of the psychedelic genre,
including The Beatles, Love, and Jefferson Airplane.

Time!" transports TBW into the realm of glorious pop psych, launching

the first and only song to offer up such sumptuous words as delirious,
imperious, mysterious, insidious and perfidious in a single set of
lyrics. "One Hundred Million Times Around The Sun" conveys its cosmic
trippiness in title alone, then delivers in spades with mind-twisting
backwards guitars and soothing promises of everlasting bliss. "Much Of
A Muchness" purrs along like a pristine engine fueled by no-knock,

CHEMISTRY SET, THE - PAINT ME A DREAM
Pioneers in the late '80s UK neo-psychedelic scene, Dave Mclean and
Paul Lake founded The Chemistry Set in 1987, releasing mind-melting
sets of songs on Manchester's alternative Imaginary label as well as
the cassette-only Acid Tapes label.
Known for their sophisticated original songcraft as well as their
uncanny ability to interpret often obscure (but always classic)
psychedelic songs with unparalleled cover versions, The Chemistry Set
have taken some the most lysergic works of The Pink Floyd, Love, The
Jimi Hendrix Experience, The Rolling Stones, Del Shannon, The Moody
Blues, Tomorrow and more to exciting and unexpected places. The band
took an extended hiatus in the mid '90s until remarkably reappearing in
2008. The return came about when their unreleased LP from 1989, "Sounds
Like Painting," somehow was uploaded onto numerous blogs and downloaded
over 5,000 times. The second stage of the band has seen the release of
four albums, five vinyl singles and several compilation appearances.
Praised by musical royalty from John Peel to David Axelrod and lauded
in a wide spectrum of music media, the band's prolific catalogue of
releases have been accompanied by extensive tours throughout the UK,
Europe and the United States.

COMMUNICANT - SHE MOVES THE SKY
Bridging the gap between '60s psychedelia and modern indie rock, Los
Angeles-based psychedelic rock group Communicant is the brainchild of
songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Dylan Gardner. An
Illinois native, Gardner brings a love of glorious, mind-expanding
songcraft and recording techniques to his kaleidoscopic compositions
and arrangements. Influenced by the cream of both classic and
contemporary psych, Communicant evolves the timeless dynamic
established by legendary bands such as July, The Creation and The
Beatles as well as the exciting, 21st-century sounds of Ty Segall, Tame
Impala and MGMT. Along with his brother Mark Gardner (drums), Jeff
Frantom (guitar) and Okudaxij (bass), Communicant spread their wings in
mid-2019 and released their debut EP, Memory Palace, in early 2020.
Featuring their Sean Lennon-approved reimagining of his song
"Parachute", the EP is a bite-sized swirling listening experience with
the feel of a full-length album. Dusty drums meet with Syd
Barrett-esque slide guitar and cascading mellotrons on songs like the
energetic "Feeling Better?" and lysergic anthem "Sleepwalker". Now,
Communicant have teamed up with Los Angeles-based label Hypnotic Bridge
to introduce their first vinyl 45 single with their double A-side "She
Moves the Sky" and "Prisoner Cloud". Their debut album is scheduled for
release in early 2021.

FLOWER MACHINE, THE - THROUGH A LONDON WINDOW
Starting with their
2004 debut album "Chalk Dust Dream of the Tea Cozy Mitten Company," The
Flower Machine has been one of the longest-running yet most obscure
bands in the Los Angeles psych scene. Led by Dutch-American singer and
guitarist Peter Quinnell, the band has consistently focused on crafting
dense, heavily-overdubbed psych-pop songs, delivered through an
intermittent series of loud and chaotic performances over the years in
the LA club scene. Strongly influenced by Syd Barrett-era Pink Floyd,
The Outsiders, and Kevin Ayers, The Flower Machine's idiosyncratic take
on psychedelia was shaped during Peter's formative years in Amsterdam,
a city where the spirit of 1967 in many ways never ended.
"One in a Million," perhaps the most obscure item in the Pink Floyd
cannon, makes its vinyl debut on the B-side. Surviving only on a murky
audience tape from a gig in Copenhagen in September, 1967, the song is
thought to be a joint composition between Syd Barrett and Roger Waters.
It even may have been an early version of the rumored "She Was a
Millionaire" single The Pink Floyd were working on to follow up "See
Emily Play."

JOVIAN TEA - STRANGE WORLD
Some twenty-five years ago, a pair of amazing songs emerged on a
compilation called Incredible Sound Show Stories Vol. 1 (The
Technicolour Milkshake), reportedly from a mysterious, white-label
acetate from the U.K., circa 1967, which had no band or songwriting
credits listed.
Many moons later, Stu Pope was playing the songs for Chris Mercado (The
Mad Walls) and Glenn Brigman (Triptides) in The Green Room at Hypnotic
Bridge HQ and it was decided this glorious psych-pop single should be
brought to our shared illusory reality by recording it anew as
faithfully as possible under the band moniker Jovian Tea. Stu
transcribed the songs; Glenn and Chris worked their musical magic, and
as the rest is, hopefully, history (as it should have been all along).

The instrumentation on both "10,000 Tomorrows" and "From Field To
Field" is actually more than that produced by physical instruments. It
is often the way they are recorded: the placement of mics (or the
deliberate lack of mics), the use of effects on a guitar passage for
impact and its removal as its sound goes elsewhere. Sometimes the
vocals become a vibrato that sound like what you could hear at the
feasts of the ancient Irish High Kings. The sounds are acoustic and
electric, mechanical and spiritual.

Formed in Tucson, Arizona by lead singer Timothy Gassen with a band
name inspired by dialogue in Martin Scorsese's The Last Waltz, The
Marshmallow Overcoat have been an essential element of the American
garage and psychedelic music scene since 1986, releasing their debut
LP, The Inner Groove, on legendary label Dionysus Records the following
year. The band's signature "Arizona Sound" is informed by their love of
everyone from The Chocolate Watchband, Doors, Beatles, Byrds,
Strawberry Alarm Clock and Electric Prunes to The Fuzztones and early
Miracle Workers. Band leader Timothy Gassen's decades-long fascination
with Rickenbacker-based psych pop is the impetus for "Wait For Her,"
with guitarist Matt Rendon coaxing those glorious trademark sounds from
a 12-string Rickey, along with a full complement of other vintage
instruments the band uses whenever and wherever possible. The '60s
tradition of having a band theme song is the inspiration for "The
Marshmallow Theme," with its buoyant call-to-action of learning to
"float away." Like the A-side, it features a range of classic gear,
including Vox amps, fuzz boxes, Rickenbacker bass and 12-string, and
Vox and Farfisa organs.

PERMANENT GREEN LIGHT - ENORMOUS HIGHS
Michael Quercio,
Matt Devine, and Chris Bruckner have reunited to bring the Permanent
Green Light sound into the third millennium. After the release of the
band's 2018 Omnivore Recordings retrospective and well-attended reunion
shows in Los Angeles, the band began work on new material. Once
extensive rehearsals and study of texts prescribed by Bruckner were
complete, the band entered the studio in early 2020 with Earle Mankey,
the legendary producer who recorded PGL's cult classic Against Nature,
as well as celebrated psychedelic records by Quercio's Paisley
Underground band The Three O'Clock (Sixteen Tambourines and Baroque
Hoedown).
Originally born out of the Los Angeles Jabberjaw coffeehouse scene in
1991, Permanent Green Light's psychedelic pop sound soon found itself
at the top of Rodney Bingenheimer's playlists and sharing bills with
Redd Kross, Teenage Fanclub, and The Muffs. By the time of PGL's
dissolution in 1994, the band had released records that may have fallen
out of print but were never forgotten by devoted fans, including the
Against Nature LP and contributions to compilations such as Freedom Of
Choice: Yesterday's New Wave Hits As Performed By Today's Stars. Fast
forward to 2018 when premier US reissue label Omnivore Recording
released the band's retrospective Hallucinations, with Ugly Things
magazine declaring Permanent Green Light as "the unsung power pop
greats of the decade. what every band on Creation should've sounded
like."

PIAGGIO SOUL COMBINATIONS, THE - SPACE DIARY
We have a feeling
members of the mod set will be pleased to hear Italy's premier Northern
Soul heroes, The Piaggio Soul Combination, have decided to go
psychedelic for their Hypnotic Bridge release. Mod sensibilities and
psychedelia have always worked so well together, we think.
Paul Weller's bass player (and Blur's sometimes DJ) Andy Lewis produced
the A-side (which features legendary Italian psych-garage guru Dome La
Muerte on guitar), and the amazing vocal therapist and singer Marina
Mulopulos is guest vocalist on the B-side. All in all, this one is a
mindblower. The Piaggio Soul Combination is a musical collective from
Pisa, Italy, where long-standing mod Marco "Piaggio" Piaggesi combined
the best singers and musicians of the local Latin-Soul scene to create
a dynamic fusion of sound.
Mixing Italian, American and Caribbean musicians, the band builds a
solid foundation of polyrhythms before adding tasty bass lines and
groove-laden guitars. A tight-as-hell horn section and a fat organ
sound complete the picture, offering a boiling pot of Soul grooves,
up-tempos, Latin-jazz movers with Northern Soul. In 2020, they started
their collaboration with Arkansas-bred lead vocalist Lakeetra Knowles.

Based in Portland, Oregon and influenced heavily by their mutual love
of jangly '60s psych, The Reverberations began crafting their authentic
sounds in 2015, approximately 50 years after the first tinges of the
musical trip that started in the mid '60s (and is still going strong)
were initially detected. Led by guitarist, vocalist and songwriter Dave
Berkham (formerly of The Cry!), who met rhythm guitarist John Jenne
(ex-Sundaze and White Swans) and drummer/percussionist Ian Bixby (ex-Go
Fever and Errata Note) while playing in a 0s cover band, the group
subsequently added Cameron Mazzia (Dave's former bandmate in The
Midnight Callers) on bass and Bob Fountain on keys to form The
Reverberations.

A psychedelic supergroup composed of members of Electric Looking Glass,
Triptides, Dream Phases, Frankie and the Witch Fingers and more, Sacred
Orange is the brainchild of former Creation Factory guitarist Neil
Soiland. With influences as diverse as One In A Million, The Beatles,
Les Fleur de Lys, Graham Gouldman, The Beach Boys, Tommy Roe and
Satanic Majesties-era Rolling Stones, the Sacred Orange project
epitomizes not only the mind-blowing music that defined psychedelia's
golden age, but the camaraderie and shared inspiration that brought it
to life. Intended solely as a studio project, over 60 separate tracks
were recorded for "Mister Opel" alone. Months in the making, the three
songs that constitute the Sacred Orange EP serve as the magnum opus of
the now-legendary project, in which nearly every denizen of the L.A.
psych scene was seemingly somehow involved.

SCHIZO FUN ADDICT - ELEVATION VERSUS SABOTAGE
Formed by Jet
Wintzer and Jayne Gabriel in a motorway motel in Taunton, England on
the first day of the new millennium, Schizo Fun Addicts first recording
began with a demo in the shower stall, recorded with a primitive laptop
and micro-cassette Dictaphone. Combining ultra-lo-fi vocals drenched in
natural reverb with digital effects and beats, the sound was described
by Paul Johnson in Uncut as invoking Brian Wilson writing for the Jesus
and Mary Chain, "teetering on the knife edge between cohesion and
collapse." Multiple glowing reviews in UK music magazines followed,
including write-ups in NME, Mojo, Shindig!, Uncut, and Prog. In 2008,
SFA were invited to be the first release on the now-legendary Fruits de
Mer Records. The 7-inch single scored a key review by Ian McCann in
Record Collector, which helped establish FDM as one of the premier
vinyl labels of our time. Ilona Virostek has been singing, writing and
playing with SFA since 2008. Her Nico vibes have now expanded,
combining with Jayne's to invoke Shangri-Las drama with Brasil 66 cool
beach vibes. Daniel Boivin handles percussion and drums by mixing his
driving live kit with analog beats, birthing intoxicating indie dance
grooves. Since 2018, SFA has been blessed with the legendary, iconic
soaring guitars of Rex John Shelverton, who was signed to SubPop and
RCA Records with VUE before co-founding TAMARYN and reinventing the
shoegaze genre with his patented West Coast wall-of-ocean sound. His
revolutionary production techniques bring SFA's vision of a whole new
genre to life in pastel romantic Technicolor. We are honored, humbled

SECRET COLOURS - OBLIVION
Chicago's Secret Colours mix a mind-melting dose of psychedelia and
American rock 'n' roll with the trippiest sounds emanating from Britain
in the '90s to create an immersive experience all their own.
Incorporating ample amounts of fuzz and delay, the resulting aural
offerings conjure up an impression of The Stone Roses and The Brian
Jonestown Massacre joining forces as a supergroup circa 1975. Tracked
to half-inch, 8-track tape using vintage recording equipment and
analogue techniques, Secret Colours crafted both "Oblivion" and "I Feel
Love" exclusively for their Hypnotic Bridge single. Recorded live in
the studio to capture the energy and spontaneity of four musicians
interacting, the band then added extra layers of fuzz, Mellotron,
string synths, reverse guitar, and a plethora of tape delays to create
a swirling, psychedelic haze that propels the music into new realms.
"Oblivion" embraces a lysergic country rock tone in the vein of The
Byrds and Relatively Clean Rivers while reflecting on the current state
of affairs. The instrumental cover of what has long been considered the
most psychedelic of disco songs, "I Feel Love," has been a strong
staple of the band's live set, a trippy tribute to Donna Summer's
classic groover.

SEEDS, THE - VAMPIRE
The Seeds remain
amongst the most beloved and iconographic of the original 1960s
garage-psych avatars. To many, their edgy dissonant sounds and
relentless fuzz-fuelled drive, tinged with flights of psychedelic
fancy, makes The Seeds the quintessential exponent of the genre, as
heard on such classics-for-the-ages as "Pushin' Too Hard," "Can't Seem
To Make You Mine" and "Mr Farmer." Their eponymous 1966 debut album has
long been recognized as a minimalist rock 'n' roll masterpiece, while
its sequels, the pop-art A Web Of Sound and florid Future, have also
grown more influential as time goes on. For decades, the name The Seeds
was most closely identified with the activities of their eccentric
vocalist, the late Sky Saxon, but the first, path-finding line-up was
always a collaboration, the musical director of which was, without a
doubt, keyboard whiz Daryl Hooper.
Now, in the 2020s, as the only surviving original Seed, Daryl has
reclaimed his birthright with a new and powerful set of Seeds
personnel: band historian Alec Palao on bass, singer/frontman
extraordinaire Paul Kopf, and Sky Saxon alumni Mark Bellgraph on guitar
and Justin Smith on drums.

SIMIAN LIFE - ANOTHER WAY DOWN
Simian Life came into being as a studio project for brothers and
longtime Los Angeles psych veterans Andy (from Chief Nowhere, Occult
Wisdom, etc.) and Robert (from Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Quarter
After, etc.) Campanella. Inspired by intrepid acts mainly from the
golden eras of yesteryear, the brothers, along with like-minded
collaborators, seek to capture the sounds of wherever their muses may
take them. The guest musicians on the record are known in Los Angeles
circles as well (Rishi Dhir from Elephant Stone, Misha Bullock from
Tennis System and Stevenson Ranch Davidians, et al). Whether the song
be mellower (à la Nick Drake, Roy Harper, or The Beatles) or heavier (à
la The Move, The Who, or The Beatles), Simian Life puts an emphasis on
instrumental and vocal texture in hopes of creating an atmosphere for
going within or travelling throughout...or both.

TIMOTHY EERIE - I FEAR THE VOID IS WAITING FOR ME
"Psych pop with deep
grooves and endless ego deaths." It's no accident the name Timothy
Eerie is so close to that of Timothy Leary. This is the aural
equivalent of two tabs and a trip down the rabbit hole. Since their
first release in 2017, these day-glo denizens of the (Orange) Sunshine
State have been kicking around the underground, making quite a name for
themselves in a short period of time. Like many bands of this genre,
there's been a revolving door of players, but that only lends to the
mystique of Timothy Eerie's sound: a sound that started as a bedroom
recording project and has now moved far beyond the bedroom.
"I Fear The Void Is Waiting For Me" (inspired by a serious dose of
mushrooms and the resulting experience of dissolution and rebirth) and
"Acid Lake" were both recorded in a few different places. Bass, drums
and rhythm guitar were tracked live at a studio on a college campus.
The band slipped into BB King's as they were closing one night and
recorded the organ parts on a vintage Hammond and Leslie setup in about
15 minutes. The vocals and other overdubs were all done in the bedrooms
of the various band members. The idea was to make the songs sounds as
loud, fast and energetic as they sound live.

their inspiration from the bands that originally defined the
psychedelic aesthetic, including July, Tintern Abbey, The Beatles, The
Pretty Things and The Smoke. Using vintage instruments, gear and
effects complemented by classic production techniques, Traum bring
analogue tape echo, delays and spring reverb to the mix, with truly
mind-blowing results. Primary singer and songwriter Helen Lichter makes
the magic happen in Traums own "dream studio" in Koln Germany, where
their debut single for Hypnotic Bridge Records was recorded in 2023. A
full album is in the works with a planned release for summer 2024.

and fuzz guitars, the song has all a seeker of psyched-out bliss could

VIBRAVOID - THE SECRETS IN HER EYES
Immersed in the maelstrom of mind-bending music emanating from the
Krautrock capital of Düsseldorf, Vibravoid emerged from the city's
1990s underground music scene as Germany's premier pioneers of
visionary, "Neo-Krautrock" influenced psychedelia. Led by enigmatic
multimedia artist, musician and DJ "Doktor" Christian Koch, the band
has continually championed the righteous goal of pushing the boundaries
of vinyl records to stratospheric heights. The psychedelic intensity of
both these songs was achieved in part through the unique sounds of Vox
Phantom guitars and a Mellotron for interesting bass sounds, plus
vintage effects including Coloursound Fuzz and various tape and
analogue delays via the Dynacord Echo and Boss DM1. A classic Tascam
424 4-track cassette machine and an archaic Sennheiser MD421 microphone
provided the perfect authentic touches.
