COTTON, JOSIE - PUSSYCAT BABYLON
American singer/songwriter Josie Cotton is known for the hits "Johnny Are You Queer," "See the New Hong Kong," "Jimmy Loves Maryann" and "He Could Be the One," the latter which she performed in the film Valley Girl. Cotton owns Los Angeles-based Kitten Robot Records which has reissued her entire catalog along with new Josie Cotton records over the past three years. Pussycat Babylon was originally released in 2010 as a limited edition private-label CD. The record has been remastered and appears on vinyl for the first time with revised packaging and full-color insert. The music is synth-heavy, driving pop; the single "Calling All Girls" was 'Coolest Song of the Week' on Little Steven's Underground Garage in December, 2021. Stitched Sound- "While 'Calling All Girls' carries a sobering message, she presents (them) in classic Josie fashion - festooned with humor and vivid splashes of neon. Its accompanying technicolor video - filled with aliens, UFOs, and. cows (!!!), is a vivid representation of all things Josie - fun, New Wave-y, and flamboyant." Anti-Music- "Cotton's vocals are a little heavier (think Christina Amphlett) as are the electro effects on "Recipe for Disaster" while "Pussycat Babylon" is a charming and catchy rocker that owes a bit to the Stooges, and yes there are "meows." Speaking of the Stooges, one of the coolest songs on the album is "Stop Iggy Pop," a cut featuring New Wave synths and a robotic chorus. Cotton wrote most of the songs on this 11-song effort and she did one heck of a good job."

Joe Cardamone is best known as the lead singer of Icarus Line. The LP features a guest appearance by Duff McKagen on bass.

HAYLEY AND THE CRUSHERS - MODERN ADULT KICKS
Fans of garage punk, power pop, Cheap Trick, Dollyrots, Suzi Moon, Pretenders, Blondie - take note. One part pop, one part poison, all "poolside glitter punk," Hayley and the Crushers offer up a tsunami of bad girl power. Anointed "the naked embodiment of power pop punk" by New Wave icon Josie Cotton (who signed the band to her Kitten Robot Records in 2021), Modern Adult Kicks is their most ambitious and self-possessed album to date. Produced by legendary LA punk producer and ex-Screamer Paul Roessler (TSOL, Josie Cotton, Richie Ramone), the album conjures up the electricity of first-car freedom, the woes of suburban isolation and the lurid pleasures of Y2K chat rooms all wrapped in the warm glow of a late-night infomercial. The band, based in Detroit, is supporting the release with US tourdates through the end of 2022. Reybee PR will provide publicity push for the US, and Shine On promo and Radio Candy Media are promoting airplay on terrestrial, Internet, and Sirius radio. There are four videos out for tracks on this album.

SPAGHETTI, EDDIE & FRANK MEYER - MOTHERFUCKIN' ROCK'N'ROLL
Little did the world know that when the Supersuckers took the Streetwalkin' Cheetahs out on tour for the first time back in 1999, the leaders of these two infamous punk rock 'n' roll acts would remain pals and collaborators for over two decades! The evidence of this wild and rowdy union is all over their debut album Motherfuckin' Rock 'n' Roll, a 10-song splatter-platter of dirty hard rock, chainsaw punk, outlaw country, and catchy hook-laden power-pop earworms by Eddie Spaghetti and Frank Meyer. The album features a guest turn by Knack guitarist Burton Averre on the Eddie and Frank version of the Knack's "My Sharona." Brian "Damage" Forsythe of Kix joins on a cover of "Heartache" as well as throughout the LP on the duo's originals. First single "I Think it Sucks (And I Don't Like It)" preceded the release with a video. Eddie and Frank have been performing together acoustically, both the Supersuckers and the Cheetahs are back doing shows with the Supersuckers touring the USA in October coinciding with this release.

VELVET STARLINGS - TECHNICOLOUR SHAKEDOWN
Hailing from Los Angeles and the beach cities of Southern California, Velvet Starlings was founded by 18-year-old guitarist, organist and vocalist Christian Gisborne. On Technicolour Shakedown, Gisborne not only tracked all the instruments, but also engineered, mixed and produced the LP in the middle of his living room. While it reflects influences that range from early Jack White to Thee Oh Sees and Arctic Monkeys, the album showcases Velvet Starlings own take on neo-'60s-garage - best described as "beach-fuzz-psych" with a big cheeky nod to the UK Invasion. Previous EPs by Velvet Starlings have charted in the top 5 at Specialty Radio and hit #1 on KROQ's "Locals Only." Gisborne also caught the attention of, among others, BBC Radio, Shepard Fairey, and the Kinks' Dave Davies who all count themselves as fans. Several of the tracks have been licensed including an international ad campaign, Netflix television and Amazon films. Technicolour is receiving a press campaign by Reybee Inc. There are four videos on YouTube of songs from the LP, the digital version has streamed over 270K on Spotify. The band will be performing BeachLife Festival in Redondo Beach, CA on May 13 and Schellraiser Festival in McGill, NV on June 2.

COTTON, JOSIE - CONVERTIBLE MUSIC
Originally released in 1982, Convertible Music kicked of a storied and perennial career of one of New Wave's most iconic voices. Famously featured in the seminal 1983 film CD Valley Girl, Josie Cotton performed in the film's prom scene both of her breakthrough singles, "He Could Be the One" and the controversial (still) "Johnny, Are You Queer?" This reissue represents the album's first appearance on Compact Disc with the LP's original artwork, plus the addition of bonus track "(Let's Do) The Blackout," which was the B-side of the single when it first appeared via Bomp Records. Lauded upon release, Convertible made a huge mark on the New Wave scene. AllMusicGuide called it "a classic of the whole California girly pop scene of the early '80s, on a level with the Go Go's (first and the debut) Bangles EP," adding "the songs, mostly written by Cotton herself or her producers, Bobby and Laron Paine, are neat '60s pastiches with elements of surf (the glorious opener, 'He Could Be the One'), Shangri-Las-style melodrama (the sultry 'I Need the Night Tonight'), and the Farfisa-driven swoony pop bliss ('Rockin' Love,' 'So Close')."

CROWJANE - MATER DOLOROSA
From Post-punk.com: "Mater Dolorosa, the incarnation of Mary pierced through the heart with seven swords, is a fitting title and matron for the solo debut of CrowJane. LA punk Legend Paul Roessler (Screamers, Nina Hagen, 45 Grave, Deadbeats), after becoming close friends with CrowJane while recording her band Egrets On Ergot, could see that she was in the grips of the kind of crushing woe that's so often the seed of hard-won transformation. Suspecting the rewards that awaited if she would risk shining a light on her own murk, Roessler took matters into his own hands, and all but locked her in his studio, Kitten Robot. Surrounding her with every available musical instrument, a pen, and some paper, he compelled her to face the rawness of loss, abuse, and addiction." Known for her work in California post-punk and deathrock ensemble Egrets on Ergot, performing as Sally and Nurse Heather in the twisted cabaret of The Deadbeats, plus fronting experimental outfit Prissy Whip, Crowjane debut solo LP has received rave press from Outburn, LA Weekly, Ghettoblaster, Under the Radar, and she appeared on the cover of Auxiliary fashion print magazine. The music has strains of L.A. deathrock from the '80s, and will be enjoyed by fans of Bjork, Siouxsie, and PJ Harvey.

KIRA - KIRA
Kira is the debut solo album by renowned bassist/songwriter/vocalist Kira. Known for being half of dos with Mike Watt, the duo recorded five album, the most recent of which, dos y dos was released in 2011. Kira is also known as the bassist with Black Flag. From the years 1984 to '86, Kira recorded five studio and two live albums with the profoundly influential band. Kira's ten tracks were recorded at Kitten Robot Studio and co-produced by Kira and the studio's primary engineer Paul Roessler (45 Grave/Screamers), also her older brother. The two have a long history of collaboration, dating back to their work in the original Twisted Roots alongside Pat Smear (Foo Fighters/Germs). Kira has labeled the music on this debut as Dark Minimalism. Always noted as an indispensable team player, on this release she is the focus: writing, singing, and letting the songs rest largely on the angular bass style that is oddly familiar when set apart from the groups she's been associated with over the years.

ROESSLER, PAUL - THE TURNING OF THE BRIGHT WORLD
With a career dating back to his teenage years as one of the keyboardists in L.A. proto-punk legends Screamers, Paul Roessler soon became the go-to keyboardist within the L.A. punk scene, eventually branching out to include work with acts as varied as Nina Hagen, 45 Grave, Mike Watt, Nervous Gender and Mark Curry, as well as leading his own group Twisted Roots alongside Pat Smear (Foo Fighters) and his sister Kira (Black Flag). Roessler in more recent years has become equally in demand for his production skills, helming the L.A.-based studio Kitten Robot which grew into the boutique label of the same name with long-time musical partner Josie Cotton. All through the years, Roessler has been recording his singular brand of solo material, and now with Kitten Robot in full flight, is finally releasing a full-length on CD and streaming. The Turning... hits many touchstones, from introspective singer/songwriter piano ballads ("Possibility of Psychic Phenomenon") to lushly orchestrated mid-tempo pieces like "The Last Time My Head Was Right." An introspective work overall, Roessler also includes the guitar-based rock of "A Quiet Night on the Mooncam" and the irresistible if deceptively upbeat "Maker." His loyal and steadily growing Bandcamp following with find much to like here. "'The Turning of the Bright World' is an album without a weakness. That isn't saying it's the best album ever made. What I'm suggesting is that it stays within itself in terms of scope and tone. Trust me, the scope and tone are fantastic." L.A. Beat
