EL DUCE (MENTORS) - 1985
Stool Sample Records
has released the demo sessions for the Mentors' albums Up the Dose and
To the Max. These sessions are called El Duce-1985. These rare and
unheard recordings featuring twelve songs all in their original form,
including the classics: "White Trash Woman", "Up the Dose", and
"Midnight Mistress". The recordings were tracked in the Redondo Beach
apartment of Mentors bassist Dr. Heathen Scum (Steve Broy). The lyrical
genius of El Duce is on full display during these recordings. "This is
El Duce in full, uncensored flight," says Broy. With the likes of the
late, great Frank Zappa, the Mentors are largely responsible for the
"Parental Advisory Explicit Lyrics" label we've all become so
accustomed. With such classic rockers as "Herpes 2," "Free Fix," and
"Clap Queen", who can blame Tipper Gore for her outrage? If you are not
Tipper - you're going to love it!
First pressing limited to 500 copies on colored vinyl.

MENTORS - HOUSES OF THE HORNY
Houses of the Horny
is a gem. Houses was the last Mentors album to feature the stellar
supertalent, El Duce. Produced by Steve Broy (aka Dr. Heathen Scum,
Mentors' bassist) in 1994, this album was professionally recorded and
released only on cassette and sold only at shows and through the
Mentors' fan club mail order. Out of print since the mid-'90's, Houses
of the Horny has achieved legendary status.
Broy has retained all of the original Digital Audio Tape (DAT). The
mixes were remastered by Shawn Franklin, Mentors' recording engineer.
Len and Jacob Horowitz of History of Recorded Sound mastered Franklin's
version down to acetate for vinyl. For this vinyl release, Stool Sample
Records used the Horowitz acetate to produce 500 copies on translucent
purple vinyl. The package includes liner notes for each song, narrated
by Steve Broy.
As always, Mentors relaeases contain X-Rated lyrical content and should
be kept away from children. Key Selling Points:
Houses of the Horny has only been offered on cassette up to now.

MENTORS - ROCK BIBLE
Rock Bible is a gem.
The year was 1990. The Mentors had no label as they had recently been
kicked off of Metal Blade/Death Records due to El Duce urinating on the
CEO's desk. True story! The band needed a cassette to sell on tour with
Ministry and Revolting Cocks. The recordings were done on an 8-track
Tascam tape recorder at the legendary Honey Davis's studio in the heart
of Hollywood. Broy has retained all of the original analog tapes. The
mixes were remastered by Shawn Franklin, Mentors' recording engineer.
Direct metal mastering was used to create the stampers. This is the
Mentors' White Album, if you will. Steve Broy had many songs, including
a drum solo by El Duce, that had never been released from these famous
sessions. Broy and Stool Sample Records decided to release Rock Bible
as a double LP. The first LP is the original cassette material. The
second LP is the bonus material and outtakes, which include banter and
talkback between the band and Honey Davis. The package includes liner
notes for each song, narrated by Steve Broy.
As always, Mentors releases contain X-Rated lyrical content and should
be kept away from children. ROCK BIBLE has only been offered on
cassette & CD up to now.

Cleveland, Ohio, To the Max "Live" is the first official Mentors live
album to be released in decades. Eldon Hoke (El Duce) is still on
drums, vocals, and "potty-mouthed" interludes between songs. The band
is tight and the recording is exemplary. Own a piece of Mentors and El
Duce history. Limited to 500 pressed on black vinyl.
