Suishou No Fune
The Lost Trees of Paradise captures Suishou No Fune in a deeply immersive live setting, recorded at Tokyo's Showboat on January 5, 2016. Built around improvisation, the album unfolds like a small mystical narrative, moving through pieces including "Becoming a Flower," "The Lost Trees of Paradise," "Yatsude," and "Keyaki." Kurenai Pirako's vocals, guitar, harmonica, bells and gong move through a dense, organic ensemble with Kageo on guitar, Matsueda Hideo on bass, and Harada Jun on drums. Originally issued by Important Records in 2019, this Abandon Ship Records edition brings the recording back into circulation as a glass-mastered, professionally replicated CD limited to 200 copies. The jewel case includes a 12-page booklet with Japanese and English lyrics. For listeners drawn to Japanese psychedelic rock, free improvisation, drone, and exploratory noise, The Lost Trees of Paradise is a patient, atmospheric document of a band whose music exists in the space between composition and spontaneous discovery.
