Yoshiko Fujiyama, Ronnie & Cheetah Beat
Yoshiko (guitar/vocalist) of The 5.6.7.8's sings 60's-70's Showa-era Japanese pop garage covers backed by the veteran Australian band Cheetah Beat! Cheetah Beat was formed by members of Australian garage bands that were active from the late '90s through the 2000s, including The Booby Traps, The Thurston Howlers, The Hekawis, and The Crusaders. For this release, they chose some of their favorite, obscure Showa-era Japanese pop songs and recorded them with Yoshiko of The 5.6.7.8's (of whom they are big fans) as the guest vocalist. This is the first of two volumes of 7" singles released simultaneously. The A-side is a cool MOD garage/Northern cover of a funky kay? soul classic by Akiko Wada from 1969, and the B-side is another funky kay? soul classic by Chinatsu Nakayama from 1970!
