Yoshiko Fujiyama, Ronnie & Cheetah Beat

Vol. 2 (black Room / Short On Love)

Yoshiko (guitar/vocalist) of The 5.6.7.8's sings 60's-70's Showa-era Japanese pop garage covers backed by the veteran Australian band Cheetah Beat! Cheetah Beat was formed by members of Australian garage bands that were active from the late '90s through the 2000s, including The Booby Traps, The Thurston Howlers, The Hekawis, and The Crusaders. For this release, they chose some of their favorite, obscure Showa-era Japanese pop songs and recorded them with Yoshiko of The 5.6.7.8's (of whom they are big fans) as the guest vocalist. This is the first of two volumes of 7" singles released simultaneously. The A-side is a funky go-go soul tune by Jun Mayuzumi from 1968, while the B-side is a cool MOD garage cover of a 1964 classic by Michi Aoyama, originally released the same year as Gus Backus (formerly of the Del-Vikings) had his popcorn-style teen-pop hit!
